Getting Your Family Summer Ready In The Lowcountry: How To Stay Ahead Of The Summer Heat In 2025
If you’re raising a family in this beautiful place we call home your task and project list may feel never ending.
From school events, to finding things to do on the weekends, to coordinating family vacations – it’s definitely a challenge to stay organized and keep up with everything that life throws at you when bringing up little ones.
One of those things that can definitely throw a curveball in any family’s plans is having an air conditioning system malfunction or outright breakdown during the summer.
With our brutally hot summers here in the Lowcountry, not having air conditioning can mean long, uncomfortable days ahead for you and your family.
No one likes being uncomfortable in their own home, and for families we know it’s especially important to have a properly working system to avoid being sweaty and miserable.
As mentioned above, we also know that your to-do list is never ending, so to help you out, here are some quick things you can do this year to get your family & home “summer ready” this year.
1. Schedule Preventative Maintenance (Or Sign Up For A Preventative Maintenance Plan)
Earlier this year I mentioned this in our spring HVAC to-do list, but if you haven’t signed up for a preventative maintenance plan, now’s a great time to do so.
And if you have signed up for one, make sure to schedule your maintenance appointment so you can catch any issues before your system ramps up its operation.
2. Evaluate Replacement HVAC Options
After your system maintenance appointment, it may come to pass that your system needs to be replaced.
Replacement is inevitable – especially with older or poorly maintained systems – but try not to panic.
Think of it as an opportunity to upgrade your system and your family’s comfort. It’s also worth mentioning that with more energy efficient models available these days, a replacement could end up saving you on energy bills as well.
3. Ask About Add-On Ductless System Installations
Have areas in your home that need a bit more granular control over comfort settings?
Or do you have areas of your home that don’t have traditional air ducts that carry conditioned air into them?
Now is a great time to look at a ductless mini split system installation.
Ductless systems come in a variety of selections and styles, but offer a great, flexible way to improve comfort in hard-to-reach or warmer areas of your home.
4. Get On-Board With A Dependable, Local, Family-Friendly HVAC Company
The difference between a good HVAC company and a great one is that a great one strive to understand your specific heating & air needs.
For working families, it’s important that your local HVAC team understands the challenges of raising a family — and the importance of having a working HVAC system for their comfort.
They’re also there when you need them – especially during those hot, sweaty summer days.
We know your to-do list is long and sometimes endless, but we want to make sure your summer goes without a hitch this year.
Whether you live in Summerville, Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Daniel Island or any other incredible place here in the Charleston metro, by tackling the above few quick items, you can help ensure your family and home will be “summer-ready” in 2025.
